Our teams are off to great starts, despite some significant injuries. This could end up being a banner year for both programs. You will not want to miss any of the great home matches remaining! Each team has a great mix of experienced vets and some exciting freshmen.

IF YOU UNABLE TO ATTEND, WATCH ALL HOME MATCHES @  and click on Men’s or women’s tennis, Live Scoreboard and Video. Or go straight to: Under “Stanford,” you can also scroll from Stanford Live to Video Archives of historical Stanford player/team performances. (This is an on-line replica of our all-weather touch screen Kiosk at the entrance to the Taube Family Tennis Stadium).

PLEASE NOTE: The “New Look” screen now displays not only a freshly designed scoreboard, but also three different courts. You can select the one you wish to feature, but watch the two other courts concurrently as well. You can easily navigate back on forth from all three courts. The same is true of Courts 4-6. You will love this new addition!

I-PHONE VIEWING: As an added feature, you can call up to access the scoreboard AND to select which of 6 match courts you wish to watch.

FACEBOOK: Check out and “Like” our new Facebook pages: or

AUDIO SYSTEM: We are in the process of up-dating our archaic stadium audio system to enhance your match experience as well. And of course, our entire facility is connected to ATT Wi-Fi for your convenience!

So you can see we are not standing still in our efforts to make Stanford Tennis more accessible to all of our fans. We are indebted to the great and unique efforts of our Tech guru, JR Keenan and Intelligence. Inc., for the fantastic cutting-edge work he has done over the last couple of years for Stanford Tennis!

YOUNG CARDINAL CHALLENGE: For the 50-60 men’s and women’s players who graduated in the last 10 years, we remind you that our Buck-Cardinal Club is once again sponsoring competition amongst our 34 sports to see if any sport can solicit donations from 100% of its athletes. We are very proud that BOTH Stanford tennis teams achieved this goal last year, and we are hopeful you all will see fit to participate once again.

REUNION TENNIS: As usual, those classes having a reunion this year (classes whose senior year ends in 2 or 7) will be joining other former men’s and women’s tennis players of all ages who are celebrating their Reunion at Taube Tennis Center, Sat., Oct 6 from 9-11 for some tennis or just good conversation. Watch for the information, and if your email address has changed, let me know. Next email "reminder:" June 4.

We had some exciting and unusual matches this winter highlighted by the first regular season match played at Stanford with the University of Florida Gators.  That win will go down as special for this team in our quest to climb back to the top of the rankings, and as we prepare to have a special performance at the NCAA’s in Athens, GA in May.

We made our first trip to play the newest conference members in early March traveling to Salt Lake City and Boulder to take on Utah and Colorado. It reminded us what playing in high altitude is all about!

We have a very strong conference schedule at home in late March and April and no doubt the Conference title will be on the line. So please come out and support this talented team as we host our powerful rivals from So. Cal. and finish with Senior Day for Veronica Li, four year starter, in the annual Spring Smash, sponsored by ZOOM MARKETING!

March 25 vs. WSU @ 11am
March 30 vs. ASU @ 1:30pm
March 31 vs. UA @ 12 pm
April 4 vs. Cal Poly @ 1:30pm
April 7 vs. Santa Clara @ 9:30am
April 13 vs. USC @ 1:30pm

We had some excellent results this winter quarter, and below are some of the highlights:
  • We had some good results at the Sherwood Cup in January.
  • We won two matches on the road to start the dual match season over Tulsa and North Carolina.
  • We defeated Saint Mary’s and Santa Clara to qualify for the National Team Indoors in Charlottesville, VA.
  • We went 2-1 at the Team Indoors, defeating Baylor, and Kentucky, and losing a very competitive match to Virginia.
  • Thacher/Klahn were named to the all-tournament team at the Team Indoors at #1 doubles.
  • We are currently 10-4, which includes a win over Cal.
  • Klahn & Thacher won the 123rd Pacific Coast Doubles in La Jolla, CA for the second straight year.
  • We had a team GPA of 3.5 fall quarter, and are expecting more of the same for winter quarter.

We are looking forward to our spring season. It begins @ Pepperdine in Malibu, CA during spring break, followed by matches beginning the Pac-12 season on the road at Arizona & Utah.

After spring break we have only have seven more matches on the regular schedule. Four will be at home and three on the road. Our Pac-12 home matches will be Oregon, and Washington. Our road matches will be UCLA, USC, and Cal. It should be another highly competitive conference once again. The conference season concludes with the first ever Pac-12 Team Championships in Ojai, CA, April 25-28.

We have added one match from our original schedule this spring. University of San Francisco will be here on April 10, at 1:30pm.

We are looking forward to the NCAA Championships in Athens, GA this year. We have a lot of work to do before that, with some tough matches ahead of us. We hope to see you at our home matches this spring. Thanks for all your support over the years - it is what makes Stanford Tennis so special.
